兔舍建筑的类型，一般有封闭式、半开放式或开放式、棚式三种。常见的兔舍建造按其屋顶的形式，分为平坡式、双坡式、平顶式、拱式、钟楼式和半钟楼式兔舍。此外，按舍内兔笼的排列方式，又分为单列、双列式和多列式兔舍。

1、单列式兔舍单列式兔舍通风和光照较好，操作方便，舍内环境污染少，但单位造价较高，占地面积大。

2、双列式兔舍兔舍内纵向布置两列兔笼，笼门有面对面和背靠背两种。兔笼重叠3层。面对面的兔笼在兔笼后各设一条0.7米宽的粪尿清扫沟，中间设1.2～1.5米宽走道。背靠背的两列兔笼之间设一条1.0米宽的粪尿沟，两外侧设1.2米宽的过道。面对面双列式兔舍的兔笼后背可作舍笼后墙，而兔舍通风好，光照充足，夏季凉爽，冬季保暖，笼位单位成本低于单列式，是目前较理想的一种兔舍。

3、多列式兔舍兔舍内兔笼排列有3列或4列。这种兔舍地面利用率高，保温性能好。但此种兔舍通风和透光不够理想，舍内空气污染较重，不利于种兔繁殖和疫病防治。

兔舍墙体用砖砌成，内墙刷白色或浅色，屋顶坡度可采用人字形屋架，下缘高度不低于 2.5米，门的宽度1.2～1.5米，高度为2米，窗户按采光系数1∶10计算，可做成宽×高=1.5米×1.5米的玻璃窗，玻璃窗安置离地面70～75厘米。地面有一定的倾斜度，粪沟做成月弧形，斜度为1.0%～1.5%。
